Get Out: The Case Against Impeachment

The discussion of what to do about the Maniac-in-chief as he continues to embarrass and endanger us reminds me of a line from a nineties movie; I'm fairly certain it was a Meryl Streep line in "Postcards From the Edge": "Instant gratification takes too long." Impeachment or the 2020 election will take too long. Every second that this maniac spends pretending to be our President causes damage to our democracy and our reputation around the world. There are only two possible solutions. McConnell, Graham, the Cabinet, and the rest of the Republican enablers need to force the illegitimate, incompetent, insane electoral college President to resign or all of us need to drive him so crazy that Ivanka, Melania, Jared, and the rest of his handlers can't put him back together again, and he will be carried out of the White House in a straitjacket.

I've always believed that the straitjacket was a better solution to this media-made, racism-and-Putin assisted disaster than handcuffs. Trump is clearly insane, and I thought at some point he would be unable to function. But apparently those who have a stake in keeping him in the White House, including his despicable daughter and son-in-law, have been able to manage him just enough so that the straitjacket hasn't yet been necessary. Still, there have been some tense moments. I'll never forget the faces of Joy Reid and her panelists after Trump gave one of his unhinged news conferences following a meeting (G-7 or G-20) with other global leaders. They all looked like they had just experienced an earthquake or a hurricane. I had switched channels while he spoke because the Bigot-in-chief agitates me too much, but I thought the end of his reign was near, based not so much on the MSNBC folks' commentary about his unhinged performance, but on their initial facial expressions. To paraphrase the most evil man in the world: Nevertheless he persists.

Do not despair, Americans and those who love or depend on our country. Like McConnell's irritant Elizabeth Warren, I have a plan. If we work together, we can drive this maniac so crazy that even Ivanka and all the President's men and women can't keep him out of that straitjacket. We may also receive some help from Mother Nature and our allies (especially the witty Brits) around the world. I was pleased that Mother Nature took my advice and rained on Trump's July 4 parade. Even better, the finally "woke" media refused to carry it live. The more the media ignores him, shows him that they don't have to come when he whistles, the sooner he will completely lose his mind. They should also stop quoting and commenting on every tweet. What would have happened, for instance, if the media (minus Fox) had not reported on the tweet about the census? What if they had just said something like, "The mad man is tweeting again, trying to distract us or trying to retaliate against his perceived enemies"? Even better, what if they simply ignored the tweets?

Longest living American President Jimmy Carter has opened a new line of attack. He has called Trump illegitimate. The media, the 2020 Democratic candidates, and all former Presidents and Vice Presidents should join him in stating this fact. Maybe some celebrities can promote Carter's movement the way Trump promoted the racist birther movement. Robert De Niro, where you at? Come on, Alec, Meryl, Bette, Rosie, Rob, let's talk about Russia, the electoral college, and voter suppression 24-7. Don't just discuss it on the cable news shows; bring it up on "Good Morning, America," "The Today Show," chat about it with the two Jimmy's and Steve Colbert on the late-night shows. Chris Rock, D.L. Hughley, Bill Maher (when you come back from vacation), all you sensible comedians, start joking about the illegitimate President. Rappers (not you, crazy Kanye), you helped promote this jerk with all of your references to him throughout the years; now help us get him out of the White House. Save America and the world by writing songs and producing videos about the fake President.

Democrats in Congress, state attorney generals, and New York prosecutors, keep investigating and indicting. Focus especially on those tax documents. Release them to the public as soon as possible. FBI and CIA, keep investigating the Trump circle's ties to Russia, Saudi Arabia, and other corrupt countries/corporations/oligarchs. Focus especially on Melania (is she a spy for Russia like Rupert Murdoch's ex-wife Wendi allegedly is for China?), Ivanka, and Jared. If they are worried about their own fates, they won't have as much time and energy to keep Humpty Dumpty Trump together.

Finally, all of us need to bombard Trump with the names that drive him crazy. I was happy to see that my tweet to "The View" was read and promoted so that on June 14, the maniac's birthday, many people, including Republican commentator Charlie Sykes, celebrated John McCain Day. Apparently, a veteran organization was selling caps from the John McCain ship at the Washington mall on Independence Day. Well played, vets! Someone posted on my Facebook page the information that a resistance group is trying to have the street the Trump Tower is on named after Obama. I suggested that all streets near Trump properties should be named after McCain or Obama. Countries around the world can join in this promotion of Obama and McCain. Name streets or buildings after them. Give them (of course, posthumous for McCain) awards. And let's add Hillary Clinton to this movement. Since McCain is dead, and Obama already has one, maybe the Nobel Peace Prize committee can give their prize to Hillary.

Trump needs to go. He should have been gone. In fact, he should never have been allowed to enter the White House, given the way he was elected and his mental condition. The sooner we drive him completely insane, the sooner we can take our country back to the imperfect, but legitimate and normal, nation that it was. Come on, world; let's lock him up--in a mental institution.
