When you have been living on this earth for three-quarters of a century and have visited most every part of it you get an appreciation for just how good it is! So many have paid a dear price for what we have today. They paid it on the beaches of Normandy and Iwo Jima. They paid it at Valley Forge, Antietam, Pusan, during Tet and on Flanders Field. They paid it in the dust bowls of Kansas and the bread lines in New York City. Yes, they paid it on a bridge in Selma.

With its few short-comings and its many world’s best, I dearly love my country. So happy 243rd birthday you grand old country. May you, and all of us, and we to come, enjoy 757 more.
