Is your family excited to visit Black Spire Outpost at Disneyland? I wanted to share a few insights so you don’t miss out on anything!

Fortunately for me, the night before I went to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland, I was able to interview a seventh grader. Zev’s tips greatly enhanced my visit which was only the 3rd day that Black Spire Outpost on Batuu was even open. I was honestly impressed with his knowledge and so was my group. Because of him, we discovered more features of this new land!

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and three jobs

First, Zev explained that he wanted to go on the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run three times. Second, he told me why, which is because this motion simulator attraction has three jobs: pilot, gunner and engineer. I was a gunner and my job turned out to press the buttons as they lit up and I was shooting at enemy forces for our interactive smuggling mission. We were a team of five, however, there should be two people doing each job. I loved this ride and we all had a great time. You can watch on my video and see that there was lots of screaming and laughing as we worked together.

We did seem to run into the ground several times as our pilot’s might have missed keeping us on course. Since we were riding at night, we saw the outpost in the screens at night.

After waiting 45 minutes in line, my friend saw a sign that this ride was not for those with neck or back concerns and chose to leave us just before we entered the ride. We did not see this sign at the entrance to the line. The area opened on Friday, May 31, 2019, and we were there on Sunday, June 2, 2019. I am guessing more signs will be added. There will be both a stand-by line and a singles line. The second ride for this area, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, is expected to open later this year.

Green and Blue Milk and allergies

Zev suggested that I find and try the green and blue milk. The milk stand with the drink that Luke Skywalker had in the movie is not made from milk. The Disney team told me it has rice and coconut. They said the blue “milk” does have berries. They were going to check if I could have the green milk but I chose to not have either due to concerns about my allergies to berries.

Droid Depot

We saw a woman holding a droid and telling it to look at us. I loved the color and the sounds. I went into the Droid Depot where you can design, assemble and activate a customized droid. It will cost you 100 credits ($100) and it will be extremely unique. I loved the droids that were all along the walls and the conveyer belt of pieces.

Savi’s Workshop: Handbuilt Lightsabers

One of the best tips I had from Zev was to look for the lightsabers. I asked in the Droid Depot about where to find them and the team member said, “Do you mean scrap metal?” Not catching on quickly, I said, “I am looking for where you make a lightsaber.” He repeated, “You mean you are looking for scrap metal?” and made a large obvious wink. So I looked at him and winked and said, “Oh yes! Where do I find scrap metal?” He told me to go out and turn towards the right. I found the scrap metal and learned about the clandestine shop that is continuing the work of the Force. There is a picture of a lightsaber on the wall but of course there is not a sign because the resistance does not want the shop to be discovered! In order to build one, you will pay 215 credits ($215usd) and you can go into the workshop. I did film in the Droid Depot and only outside Savi’s workshop but I did not have time to  go inside this visit.

The entire land is well designed and when we first entered we immediately saw Rey and Chewbacca. You can buy food at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo as well as Ronto Roasters wraps. The creature shop was a big hit when I was there and so many people left with new friends to take home.

I loved my first visit to this new land which is the largest addition to Anaheim Disneyland since it opened in 1955. The interactive ride, shopping and food are on 14 acres which will transport you to a galaxy far, far away!
