Can $5 Stop Plosives?

I have a cheap "mobile phone" podcast setup that's great for when I'm on the road. The only downside is my mobile mic of choice, a Shure SM58 knockoff by GLS, has a plosive problem.

Maybe it's me. I'm used to broadcast mics like the BP40 and RE20 and am probably too close.

Or maybe it's that the gain on my mobile setup is jacked. Or jacked plus one – there's not a lot of subtlety to it.

Regardless, I was excited to find out about the Popper Blocker, an internal "pop filter" that fits ball-style mics like the GLS 58, I ordered one.

This episode is my "unboxing" and initial review.
