My June Updates - Games of Thrones, Friends, or Big Bang Theory?

The CliffNotes of this blog post:
1. I've forgotten how to speak to you.
2. My next book releases in 28 days!
3. I'm pregnant with 8, and need help with their names.

Let's start with the awkward stuff. I haven't written to you in almost three months, which violates every rule I have for myself in terms of reader communication. The reason? I haven't had anything to say, and that - as a writer - is terrifying.

I've had writer's block before. In 2014, for three horrible weeks, I struggled through the middle of a novel, unable to move forward or backward. That blockage was fixed by deleting my last five chapters and taking the story in a different direction. I can't exactly follow that fix on a newsletter, but I certainly did try five or six different drafts - but abandoned them all.

Thank goodness my block has cleared, and it's mainly thanks to my inability to stay quiet for one second longer about my upcoming book, Filthy Vows.

Filthy Vows is about a married couple whose sex life takes a naughty turn, and I love it soooo much. It's unique for me to write about a couple who is already together, so the story unfolds at a different pace and they are able to face different struggles than a new falling-in-love couple.

This book is so... I don't even know what to say about it. They don't have a perfect marriage, but their interactions are so much fun and their sex life is so hot. I spent half of the time writing this book laughing and the other half squirming in my seat. Look for it on July 18th, exclusively on Amazon. I'll have a preorder for you in about two weeks.

Now, let's chat about my babies. I was a bit deceptive in telling you that I was pregnant with octuplets because it's actually 9 (but I didn't know the word for 9 babies) and they aren't literally in my belly, they are in my incubator.

Here's a photo of my upcoming brood, along with their daddy!

This issue is... I now need NINE names. Potentially 9 names. It's hard to know how many of the eggs will actually hatch. Fertilized eggs have a hatch rate of 30 - 60%. So the chances are that our nine eggs will only produce 3-6 babies. I won't know their gender for a while unless we get the chicks professionally sexed, so I'll have to name them without their gender.

I'd like to pick names that all fit a certain theme. I was thinking Big Bang Theory characters or Game of Thrones. So, I'd have Penny, Leonard, and Raj. Or Daneyarius, Theon, and Ned Stark. Oh! Or maybe it should be Friends characters - Rachel, Ross, and Phoebe.

Urg... I'd love your thoughts! Please reply to this email with your vote as a theme of my baby chicks' names - or if you have any theme ideas I haven't thought of! Due to the size of my subscriber list, I won't be able to respond to your email - but I will read every single one!

By the time next month's newsletter comes out - I'll have baby chick photos *plus* Filthy Vows will be available! Keep scrolling, there's some more good stuff - and photos! - ahead.

I came across a starfish community while out of on the boat. Fun facts about starfish: They can weigh up to 11 pounds and live an average of 35 years!

The Ghostwriter is now available in Taiwan, Polish, Hungarian and Czech. I love seeing the foreign covers and the different creative directions each one goes in.

One reason I haven't published as many books in 2019 is that I've been busy on the other half of my business - working with aspiring and published authors to put on online workshops, free resources, and our first annual conference! This is a pic from Bootcamp - which was a 3-day intensive camp for aspiring authors. It was so much fun! You can find out more at InkersCon.com.
