New Year. New Writing
Fans of the Atlas series are going to have to wait a little longer to get the third book in Atlas Cycle. But that doesn't mean there aren't exciting things happening.
First off, anyone who hasn't gotten a paperback copy of Cast in Sand, it was always my goal to write something long enough to be a novella, but short enough that I could publish it in print for under seven bucks. Cast in Sand is 5.99 and looks gorgeous, even as a slim volume. If you ever wanted a fragment of Atlas to hold in your hand, this is a chunk worth ordering.
In other news,
Children of Atlas got a rewrite last year. What happened was, Cast in Sand came out really good. It was fast paced, punchy, without losing any of the world building that I love so much.
So I made an executive decision to gave the main series a a facelift. Took about six months to do it. Old readers probably won't notice a difference, but I've already seen more people finishing book one and going on to read the sequel.
In 2019, expect Black Crescent to get a similar facelift.
In other worlds: I'm very happy with that Nautical Fantasy novella that I wrote last year. It got a good polish this year and I've written a few chapters of the sequel. I'm holding back on publishing this one until everything is perfect. But...get excited.
As for this years release. 2018 didn't have one. It was my first year, since 2015 that I didn't release a book. But that's good reason. My other creative pursuits have been profitable and keeping me very busy. I've had the pleasure of helping the author community by freelance editing. I worked on almost 30 books last year. Which left less time than usual for my own.
Things will get a little more quiet before they get loud again. I'll likely have a small book release in 2019, even if it's just that second poetry book I've been hinting at.
By 2020 I should be creating full time again. Though some of that energy is always going to go into art. Here, check out this picture of Charles in front of my latest wood block print.
