This Week: Free Contents
It is funny to see all these multinational corporations saying that
they don't want to distribute free contents because they are
"protecting" the author. As an author, I would like to stress that our
goals are to be red to be listened or whatever. I believe everybody is
going to find an economical model, so everybody will be happy, but
till this happens let's allow free contents as it is. I want to hear
your opinion on this issue.

Todo en este mundo relata alrededor de la economia, tratamos en un mundo que busca solo un objetivo; la ganancia. Como autor, claro que querras hacer que tus palabras sean escuchadas y sean cosechadas en una mente abierta, reflexiva y que pueda entender tus propios motivos. ¿Pero como podrais combatir con un mundo ya establecido y predestinado como este?

Hello, Paulo, we met in Miami some years ago. I enjoy your work and cherish your books. Thank you. Concerning this question, I believe this is a writer's decision and should not be a decision made by third parties as to whether a book is available for free anywhere.
Yes, writers want to be read, musicians want to be heard, but they've put hard work behind their projects and deserve to be compensated for their creativity, they deserve to make a living and feed their families, and not have their creations available for free because someone decided it should be so.
I don't agree with these "torrent" sites who post other people's hard work for free without an artist's consent.
From a purely business perspective, some of these multinational corporations have huge investments behind some artist's work, and they may not want their part of the investment being handed out for free, so they say things like "we're protecting the author" when in fact they are protecting themselves.
I'm a writer (award winning, but currently not know) and I don't mind giving some of my books and stories away even though they are available for sale, I'm also a musician playing my various bamboo flutes for charity events. I have two CDs available and I make a good percentage of those available for free as well. But I'm the one doing it because I want to, not someone else doing it behind my back and without my authorization.
When I become rich, I'll want to offer my work for free to an even wider audience, I would love to hire a person to make sure every prison, every library, every hospital has copies of my books, but for now, I enjoy (and need) to mostly be compensated for my work.
