Review: Troubled Paradise by J.M. Brister
Troubled Paradise is the second book of the Gray Tower series by author J. M. Brister. I give this book five out of five stars. Ms. Brister has entered the holy grail of romance authors, in my humble opinion. I put her in the same echelon as I do Mandy Lee and Kathleen Woodiwiss. Enough about artistic talent. Let’s get to the good stuff!
Troubled Paradise tells the story of Kat, an IT specialist with Gray Tower, and Jack, some of Gray Tower’s muscle. The duo are sent on a secret mission to a tropical paradise. Some romance, hot sex, and action later, and the two end up falling in love. We also get a cameo appearance from my personal favorite characters, Keira and Logan, from Gray Tower book 1.
Character development is an ongoing process in this series of books. There is a purpose and reason for every character in the book. Back stories give each character a realism that is often missing in some contemporary romance novels.
The plot has an interesting twist. It moves along at a good pace. There are enough twists, turns, and action to keep you interested.
My favorite part of the entire book is learning that maybe, just maybe, Jack Hunter isn’t as big an ass as we at first believe he is. This is a must read for lovers of contemporary romance.
