Typewriter Series #2621 by Tyler Knott Gregson

*A wedding gift for our friends @jesselizamack and @_garts *

If pressed for three, I could give them,
three of the half million to sum you up,
who you are, to me.  Adventure, I’d say,
and speak of the world you unlocked,
the sun soaked peaks, the valleys that
cradle wind like a fragile thing,
the magic you promised was in all things.
Courage, maybe, and tell tale of
your endurance, of left foot right foot
onward press when mine become roots
and those roots sink into soil.
Home, I’d save for last,
and I would not speak of this, not really,
I’d save that for me, me only,
so I’d just say you’re who I will always
come back to.  Enough, this.

And you, of me, which three would you give,
and give freely?  Beauty, offered quickly,
like it’d been hiding and waiting to leap out,
waiting to announce itself, said mine didn’t
need to, said it came naturally, never boasted,
but shined anyway.  Headstrong next, so many
stories of belief that doesn’t waver,  strength
from a steady place.  I wait for the last,
and at last it comes, mesmerizing, offered
sheepishly, with lost look in lost eyes.
Lost in me, and I in you, though I forgot
to choose it.

I chose home, and do, still.  The reasons
are mine, but you know them all,
already.
