Typewriter Series #2618 by Tyler Knott Gregson
Let it all burn around us
(one day it will burn to ash)
let flame and fire spread
(consume what remains unbroken
by us still)
and let day turn to night
(smoke clouds rise, sometimes
they stay).
Somewhere in the middle
(slightly off center, never were
the type for symmetry)
they’ll find us, frozen
(still and silent despite the heat)
in embrace, lips to lips
(can we breathe this way,
recycle our air forever?)
and unmoving
(what use is motion
when it’s you, and it’s
me?).
