I’ll never pretend to understand
your struggles,
but I’ll ask to fight beside you.
I won’t assume your perspective,
I won’t embrace all you’ve endured,
call it my own,
and profit from it.  
I will be a student of you,
study your femininity,
your ferocity, and I will ask
for guidance on how best to help,
how to use the unfair advantage
I was born into, to slowly chip away
at it.
I will sweep the glass from the ceilings
you shatter,
I will admit, openly and honestly
that I know so little,
but want to know so much more.
I will ask, and I will try,
but what you’ve struggled through,
fought for, and what you’ve won
are yours, and yours alone.
