For The Love Of The 6x8 Size In Scrapbooking
I recently received a request to share some pages from my 6x8 albums.
It was a great oppotunity for me to talk about why I love this size and how it's been working for me over the last few years.
One of the places people tend to get hung up when it comes to memory keeping is struggling with sizes. I'm an equal opportunity memory keeper and still create layouts in a variety of sizes including 12x12, 9x12, 8.5x11, 6x8 and 3x8.
At some point in the past I stopped worrying about having all the same matching albums and started focusing a whole lot more on getting my stories told and simply using my albums as the home for those stories. You can see some of my past posts about album organization here.
As you'll hear me mention in the video, most of the layouts you'll see were created using products and themes from the Story Kit™. I tell four stories each month using the Story Kit™ - usually I do three layouts (of varying sizes but usually including 6x8) and a Project Life® spread. I share those in the classroom for that subscription. The monthly themes direct and inform and give me a pathway for my storytelling and I welcome that wholeheartedly. In the video I also mention my love for "one page photo/one page journaling" spreads and you'll see that come up again and again as a foundation for the stories I tell especially in this 6x8 size.
PRODUCT NOTE: We hope to be able to stock the greige and black pleather albums again in the future. At this time we have navy pleather 6x8 along with a bunch of different chipboard album options if you are wanting to start a home for your 6x8 stories.
Feel free to let me know if you have any questions in the comments below.
