On Sunday 19 May, we went to Knowth, a complex of burial mounds near Newgrange.
There is a large central mound surrounded by several smaller ones. The entrances are aligned on the sunrises of the spring and autumn equinoxes. This is interesting because it means they were able to identify the equinoxes. The main mound is 5000 years old.
