It’s when I know you’re weary,
when I know you’re all ache
and exhaustion, it’s when
I see your head drop and your sigh
stretch out like a dancer,
that I quiet, that I slow,
that I turn off myself and stay
beside you.  

I’ve been trying to learn more
of what makes you soothed, I’ve been
studying the signs of your relief,
mapping them out, memorizing
the routes to, and the comfortable
places there to rest.
