Today in History: Joan of Arc

On this day (May 7) in 1429, Joan of Arc broke the English siege of Orleans. Joan is one of the most fascinating figures in all of history. Her accomplishments are very difficult to explain--short of divine intervention, of course. Princes and important nobles were not in the habit of listening to illiterate female peasants.
