Dick had organized a decorating party at the gym this year for the employees.

It had been fun but exhausting, especially as he'd volunteered to stay behind and do clean up, and he was so glad when he pulled up in front of the house behind Rock's truck.

He went in, greeted by the dogs first.

He smelled chocolate and peppermint, heard Christmas music and soft, happy laughter.

He spent a moment longer with the dogs, enjoying the sounds of his guys together and a surge of something almost overwhelming went through him.

He was the luckiest man in the world.
