Storms and thoughts

I went out for lunch today.

When I got back, the power was out. Didn't think much of it at the time.

Then the hours passed, and passed, and passed, and the power company kept pushing our fix time back.

The storm rolling through complicated things. But the end result was a disruption of the routine, the one I've been building for months.

It gave me time to think.

Couldn't work, couldn't write with all the power out. Just me and my thoughts, and a little light reading.

Four months it's been, since I started this path.

I have no regrets.

My routine is more of a suggestion than a hard rule.

And I'm happy.

I'm home for my wife and my daughter more often.

We might not have as much money to toss around, but we've got more time to enjoy what we have.

For now, our basic needs are met. We're doing that well enough... I haven't had to go to emergency stations yet. Gods willing I won't.

And if we hit a patch of major prosperity, we're good to go. One good series, or one major spike like last year, and we're set. We're golden.

This was the right choice.

I'll have to work twice as much tomorrow to make my next planned release date, but whatever. It's work I can do. It's work I love.

This is good.

Not perfect, but it doesn't have to be. It's good enough.
