Today in History: Tiananmen Square

On this day (April 27) in 1989, students in Beijing, China took over Tiananmen Square. 100,000 people gathered in the Square to demand continued economic reform. The movement expanded to demand political reform as well. It would eventually be broken when the government sent tanks in against the unarmed crowd on 6/4 killing between hundreds and thousands of people.
