Books, burnout, beer and boobs. Okay, maybe not the last two but I wanted to alliterate.

Well, here we are again together. You and me, friends, one month-ish out from another release. Side note – super gratified and excited by the positive comments to Alone already. If you've been hanging around, you'd know that I’ve been blathering for ages about how this one is "different". And, as is always the case with books, some will like it and some will not. But this is one I really want people to enjoy (oh hi, Ego, wondered where you’d gotten to).

I think what I’m most excited about is for people to read Alone and then come chat with me about it. No, seriously – I would love to discuss it with you! I feel like I’ve been so evasive and secretive about it that I’m just desperate to talk about this book. So, please, hit me up here or on Twitter or wherever and I’ll probably talk your ear (or eyes?) off.

Alone is already available on your Amazons etc for paperback pre-order and as usual, the Bella site will have all your formats, paper and electronic ready about two weeks before release on 15th May.

I’ve been incredibly busy since...well...forever, but more so in the past eight months or so. You may or may not know but writing is technically just a hobby I squeeze in around a full time job and other life stuff. Ask Me Again and Alone were both incredibly emotionally draining novels, and with two books out every year for three years in a row, honestly I’m a little tired after a nonstop write/edit/write while editing/marketing/being anxious cycle.

And all of this is relevant why, E. J.? Well…I’m just finishing up final edits for my November release, If the Shoe Fits which is what I'd call a soft, easy romance. For my own sanity, after the previous intense novels, I REALLY needed this one to be an easy, light, girl meets girl and realises she’s not so straight after all, gentle, not angsty type story. I adore it. Jana Fleischer is incredibly fun (though she took some wrangling). And Sabine and Rebecca are very much involved, continuing their story in the background because I really wanted to give everyone who’s expressed love for those two a really full on happy ending. I’ll admit it, I cried writing certain loved-up scenes.

Then I’m not sure what the plan for 2020 is. Again, full honest disclosure – once I sent If the Shoe Fits to the publisher, I was hit with an unexpected, and unpleasant, sensation of what I can only describe as a micro-burnout. See reasons above. I opened up my completed first draft of my historical fiction, Lena and was struck by how boring and unimaginative the words felt (which was really distressing given this book is the book of my heart and previously I’d thought it was the bees knees). I opened up my unnamed Post-Apoc and couldn’t get over how tedious everything was and how much I just did not want to be writing it.

Those things were a clear sign it was time to take a break from writing. So I did. Guys – I WATCHED NETFLIX! Don’t laugh, we’re total Netflix newbies because Australia’s internet is third world and we only recently had an internet plan made available that gave us the data allowance to use Netflix (I’m not even kidding). Top tip – if you’re considering moving to Australia – stick to the cities, not the rural areas where 30GB/month allowance at 2Mb/s for a ridiculous price is a fucking LUXURY.

Anyways, I Netflixed, I bummed around, I played some CoD and Prey and Wolfenstein. And then...I just felt like writing again. Literally just a few days of no pressure and the switch was turned back on.

So. I’m currently working on something I call both Death's Minion and L’amour et La Mort (PLEASE do laugh at my awful Google Translate French :D). I really don’t know what I’m actually going to call it. It’s also...hold onto your hats... THIRD PERSON all the way through. I know, I’m still in shock myself. I love this one—and so does my BFF who’s been niggling me to write it ever since I mentioned the vague idea to her years ago. It’s funny, it’s original (I think) and all around very good fun. A VERY basic premise is: Death’s Head Minion (Morgan) has to team up with one of her human employees (Jane) in order to tick items off Jane’s bucket list so Morgan can win Employee of the Year again. Shenanigans, fun, little bit of drama and a lot of falling in love ensues.
I promise that when I have details about its release, you’ll know too.

Hope to catch you all on the other side of Alone's release!

Laure Hey there !!!

The micro burnout state is totally understandable ... Glad you feel better after your Netflix break (never watched Netflix in my life ... so I won't laugh)

IDK if it'll be good for your mood mate but I wanted to let you know that I'll re-read the paperback of "Ask, Tell" (to refresh my memory ... 2 years is a long time gap between a novel and its sequel) and right after I'll read "Ask Me Again" also in paperback (a good friend of mine offered it to me last Christmas ;-) ) 🏳️‍🌈👭📚👩‍❤️‍👩🏳️‍🌈

I'll also read the paperback of "Turbulence" soon .. And "Alone", well, it'll be later, when I'll be able to purchase it ... (it's the only paperback of yours which is missing from my bookshelves ... ;-) )

WOW !!! OMG ! You writting a THIRD PERSON all the way through novel ... I can't believe it !!!
Ok .. now, I'm more than uber-curious about this one ... 💜💙💚💛🧡❤️ Can't wait !!!

WTH !!! Why would you use Google Translate about the French language when you have a French mate ... ?? OK .. let's say you were really toast for a while ... Next time, please, remember I'm here to help ...

Have a good one !!
Take care.

Greetings, 🤗 & 😘 from 🇷🇪 Reunion

Jude Silberfeld-Grimaud Same as Laure, I made this offer on the Lesbian books, writers, readers group on Facebook, I'll make it here too: if you need help getting your French right (and if Laure is not available, of course), I'll be happy to help.

E.J. Noyes Laure and Jude - thank you, and I know there’s always native speakers around to help out :)
This google translate was literally “I need something to call this thing while working on it”. I promise if I use French, l’ll come knocking!

Please do ;)
I'm really looking forward to Alone (I just read Gold and re-read Turbulence, am still getting over Ask, Tell and Ask Me Again is on my list). Thank you for your books.

message 5: by Bugs (new)

Bugs First off, congrats on your upcoming "Alone," arguably THE most anticipated must-read book in 2019 for me! I can hardly wait to dive into this new, sure-to-be intense and deeply affecting story that you've no doubt churned out yet again what with your brilliant craft and all! :D

Oooo...If The Shoe Fits has one of me fav couples, Sabine & Bec, in it, too! YAY! :D Cheers, mate! Looking forward to that one!

Sorry to hear about your burnout. Reckon it happens, eh? Glad to hear Netflix more or less cured you, eh? ;) Just take it easy!

And obviously, your new WIP - ?Death's Minion - sounds absolutely FUN to read! Oh..I LOVE the personification of Death! ;) Thrills! Good luck and happy writing!

Thanks in advance for your future updates!! Much obliged!

Ta, mate!

message 6: by Lex (new)

Lex Kent I'm drooling over that fact you are writing a post-apoc and a paranormal type book. To be completely honest I didn't expect to see either from you and I could not be more excited! I love how you keep changing it up. Not to mention we are getting more of Sab and Rebecca, well I'm a happy camper:)

message 7: by E.J. (new)

E.J. Noyes Bugs, apparently Netflix is a cure-all? Who knew.

And thank you! Am quite very excited too!

And Death is very fun...only a side character but very much not the typical 'Grim Reaper' personification :D

message 8: by E.J. (new)

E.J. Noyes Lex, I'm a happy camper too :)

I hadn't considered the Death's Minion book to be a paranormal type, more a humorous romance type... But I suppose having the theme it does then it could be paranormal?

The Post-apoc is on the backburner until I can find some enthusiasm for it again. And also it needs science stuff researchy things which is a little more effort than I feel like right now :D

Ohhhh.. I’m counting on Death personified as something different and FUN, not the depressing Grim! And yours sounds like it’s gonna be devilishly DELISH to devour! 😈 can’t wait!!

=> I did this offer more than once too ... sadly Google translate seems to be the "winner" very often (our mother language not that much, though ...) I'll let you know if I'm not available Jude ... and, depends on the situation & since we don't have te same background, we could team up and do some brainstorming together to find the best translation for our Aussie friend (or some others if they want to) ... 😉

Take care all !!
Have a good one ...

Tere Hey gal! Can’t wait for Alone. I had a minor freak out about your burn out (aren’t we all burned out? Day to day I suppose) but see you are back at it! Phew! I so love your first person POV, but well, I will read anything you write. That premise does sound fun. And hey Infinity War is on Netflix so you can review before Endgame! Since you have Captain Marvel down...I get my Goose Flunko Pop today! I’m so excited about that!!
Have an awesome day!

Goose Funko looks so cool! But if I bring home any more CM stuff, OH will probably divorce me...

I've seen original Captain America (Peggy, my heart) and Ant Man but no other Avengers other than CM, obvs. I don't like Iron Man.
I'm just going to bumble my way through Endgame - Big Bad Blue Brolin has a backstory and issues and killed a bunch of people, right? How hard can it be to pick up the gist of the story? :D
