Left of Black host Mark Anthony Neal  is joined in the studio by professor, Robert Reid-Pharr, author of many books including Conjugal Union: The Body, The House, and the Black American (Oxford University Press, 1999), Once You Go Black: Choice, Desire, and the Black American Intellectual (New York University Press, 2007), and most recently, Archives of the Flesh: African America, Spain, and Post-Humanist Critique (New York University Press, 2016), which Michelle Wright describes as, “a daring and beautifully written book, offering reflections on the current state of Black studies and the sociopolitical and geographical locations of Blackness that inform our dominant discourses.” Reid-Pharr is a Professor of Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality at Harvard University.
