Announcement

By: Patty

Dear People,

As you know, authors can burn out if they work on a series too long without a break, so I have decided to take a mental health break and put Mercy and Anna on the back burner. There are so many other people and places to explore in their world, and I'd like to try something a little more challenging.

Christy is a character to whom I've always felt drawn. She is complex and has deep down layers of vulnerability that I find very touching and compelling. And I feel that...

Anna 'Bookbuyer' I'm sad but excited too! ^_^

Thomas Who's Christy? There are so many characters in these series that I'm not sure which one she is.

message 3: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (last edited Apr 02, 2019 01:14AM) (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' Christy is Adam’s ex wife right?

message 4: by Thomas (new)

Thomas That's what I thought, but I didn't think that could possibly be right. If that really is who Patricia's talking about then she really does have "fine qualities that we haven't yet seen," because I completely missed them.

Victoria April Fool’s Day announcement - phew!

message 6: by Thomas (new)

Thomas Yeah. Just realized that. It was already April 2 when I read this, but I should have noticed.

message 7: by Reanna (new)

Reanna Patton So glad this is an April Fool's joke! lol.

message 8: by Reanne (new)

Reanne Wow, I was so glad to see that was an April Fool's joke. Because honestly, given how she seems to want us to be sympathetic to Leah, I could fully believe she'd do that.

Erin Scratch wrote: "I imagine it would be like watching Cordelia grow into the most beloved character on Angel. I figure Christy would have to be kidnapped and transformed in order for her to be likable."

Difference being that Cordelia was sixteen and understandably self-involved when we met her (and becomes a caring adult woman as she experiences the world more fully)? And Christy is a grown woman who continuously neglects her teenage daughter while manipulating other people to do what she wants?

Patty tried really hard to make Christy into a halfway sympathetic character in Fire Touched by doing exactly what you mentioned, but I don't think it really succeeded.

message 10: by NickyL (new)

NickyL Oh. My. Goodness... I'm sitting here thinking ... CHRISTY??? The one who is pretty full of herself Christy? The one who constantly gives Mercy hell and talks shit and threw Adam away because of stupid, shallow reasons Christy? Ummm.... LOL
I hate April Fools. No, really. Good one, Patty! You had me going there.

message 11: by Beth (new)

Beth You always make the male characters in your novels so vulnerable I get maternal protective instincts about them. :) Looking forward to your next tale, what ever it may entail.... (I know Pun Tax)

message 12: by Moody Maki (new)

Moody Maki I was wondering who Christy was! Good thing this was a joke *phew*

message 13: by Maeve (new)

Maeve I'm probably in the minority, but I actually feel badly for Leah. Unrequired love is a terrible thing - especially when everyone knows of the situation. As a werewolf, she can't even have children of her own to love and spoil - and Bran wants none of that either. She seems so terribly isolated - I'd actually like to see her experience happiness.

Fran One of the best things about Art is the ability to change over to doing something different! Enjoy your sideline creation. I will too, I'm sure.

message 15: by George (new)

George Hahahahahahahahahahaha!

message 16: by Leah (new)

Leah Carr Thomas wrote: "Who's Christy? There are so many characters in these series that I'm not sure which one she is."

Adam's ex-wife.

message 17: by Alexandria (new)

Alexandria Oh, thank the gods this was an April Fool's joke. Christy literally abandoned her daughter for a guy. THat's... ugh. I love Patricia Briggs and her work but I was very, very scared there for a minute. "Many fine qualities" my foot! I need to go re-read Moon Called to calm down now lol

message 18: by Lalo (new)

Lalo This by far my favorite series and I read a LOT. Love these characters. Love the world building. I cannot get enough.

message 19: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Best April Fool's joke this year. I was so upset! LOL

message 20: by Joyce (new)

Joyce I had a a few seconds (mind you a few short second) where I was like Christy? Who is that? Then I was like no way!!! Then I seen April Fools! I really hope that is what it is because she is one character I do not like because come on how can yo redeem someone that is so self centered and a bad mom like Christy. There is no liking this woman. I disliked from the first when I read how she would whore around and leave her child for days by herself.

message 21: by Joyce (new)

Joyce Lol I reread the whole series just to calm myself down that and to refresh my memory for her next book😁
