As I'm still reading through the RITA thread, I have to agree with the majority of the other writers' comments: basically, a book should be judged on its merit, and not on who wrote the book (i.e. a popularity contest); and that the system should be more inclusive, and not focused on books by and about white M/F couples.
With that being said, there was one very antagonistic author in the conversation, who didn't seem to get the memo. She mentioned that the RITA should be all about the writing; no one was debating that. Giving her the benefit of the doubt, I'm assuming that she meant just that, but her choice of words - and the sarcastic venom - pretty much eliminated what she could have possibly meant.
I just deleted her book from my Kindle; I recently bought it, as it sounded good from the blurb, and I'll be getting my money back.
I ain't got time for the bullshit.
