Ah, action scenes. They are exciting but can also be difficult to write. I have to think about how the human body moves, what is possible, what is impossible, etc. It helps to get up from my desk and move around and reenact it (kinda, haha).
If your characters are in a sword fight, you need to do research on swordsmanship, so you can get the terminology correct. I used MEDIEVAL SWORDSMANSHIP by John Clements as a guide for all of my sword play scenes. It was extremely helpful.
The main thing is to keep your action scenes simple and clear. The movements and your writing. You don’t want to overburden or muddle the scene for your reader.
