The internet can be a terrible place, but it also gives us wonderful gifts like the Bootleg Daycare Instagram account.  It’s full of the terrible murals of cartoon characters that decorate the walls of cheap daycares everywhere.

I love these. They hit a sweet spot for me:  well-meaning, but a little sad and scary.  And they perfectly illustrate the difference between how kids see the world and grown-ups see the world.  I guarantee you that most of the time a kid sees a weirdly squished up Shrek, they don’t go “What’s wrong with Bugs!?!” or “Looks like Bugs has had a rough day” like us adult jerks do. They are delighted, as well they should be.
