Original Song – Turning to You

Where are you?

In the middle of this crazy day

All the surround sound is pounding

All the ugliness around me

There is darkness and confusion

Misled youth, a society broken and filled with illusions

Delusions and distortions

And I worry that it’s not getting any better

But slipping further from your Truths

Do they even turn to you?

~

I can’t fight it on my own

I need your light to permeate

The places that I go

That don’t know you

And don’t even want to

Let your love flow through me

So my heart does not get hardened

Or cracked against the pain of this world

Let your light shine in me

So then others can see

Who I’m trying to be like

And who I am turning to

And that is You

~

Why are they so lost

And can not find their way

How did they get so far gone

Crashing against walls

Breaking down homes

And destroying lives that you have made

No sanctity for the living

No morals

No believing

While heartbeats are silenced

At the call

My heart is heavy

Barely able to stand it all

~

I can’t fight it on my own

I need your light to permeate

That places that I go

That don’t know you

And don’t even want to

Let your love flow through me

So my heart does not get hardened

Or cracked against the pain of this world

Let your light shine in me

So then others can see

Who I’m trying to be like

And who I am turning to

And that is You

~

Help me to stand up for those who can’t

Be a voice crying out in the wilderness

Of this land and speak your Word

For you have formed us in your image

And have known us since our mother’s

Womb

Help me to be the light in a darkness that

Doesn’t want to go away

But we know the end of the story

And your peace and hope can find a way

To heal a land and bring the truth

That’s why I try to be more like you

So when they see me they will see who I am

Turning to

And that is you
