NEWS UPDATE: Lately, I've been writing fewer blog posts and more tweets. So, you can follow me on twitter here==> @edlynskey. Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming...
Well, Xmas and its tinsel cheer is a dimming memory, and January is almost in the books, but February promises more of the same cold grip on us. What's a weary soul to do? I'm no Dr. Phil, but maybe we can come up with a few useful ideas.
1. Think warm thoughts. Remember how balmy it was walking outdoors on the summer evenings? Well, just keep that memory running.
2. "Embrace the suck." That's military jargon that mean just go with it, or something like that. A couple of winters back, I had a hard time shedding a few pounds left over from Xmas. After a few heavy snows and shoveling, presto!, I was back to my old weight.
3. Exercise a bit more. Hey, MLB spring training starts in mid-February. Why not join the boys of summer to get back into shape?
4. Dig the winter sports. This tip is tough when your favorite NBA team is 2-15. But you get the idea. Try something a little different like I did with by watching hockey.
5. Read a good book. Yeah, some evenings the TV at Castle Lynskey just stays off. This winter I delved back into Westerns, my old favorite genre.
Following all these suggestions isn't a cure-all. But maybe--just maybe--something here will smooth out the bumps and make your getting through the winter a bit smoother.
