I'm in love with love. You all know how a well done romance in a story brings the feel good factor. Whether it is the feature of the book or a nice secondary side slice. When love is done right... sigh, doesn't it just make you happy?
I won't lie. Sometimes I like to be swept away with a sizzling romance. A realistic lust turning quickly into something hotter. Phew, pass the fan whilst I try to wipe the dreamy smile off my face.
But it's the rare author who can maintain the heated sizzle factor from page one to the end. Every interaction upping the sizzle factor. But come on, after a while it kind of becomes one note... dare I say, boring.
Love, like a character, needs layers, depth and facets. And I may be the only one but seriously when a sizzling romance begins to blossom, showing other facets, that's when I truly begin to believe in the couple. It doesn't have to be soppy. In fact, yuk, ban the soppy. And I'm not talking about the H placing his hand over his heart and in a gravelly voice saying I love you (though that does sound nice)
I'm talking about the little things. The thoughtful things. The signs that he is taking notice of the lady in his life and listening to her. Feeding her dog. Making her a snack. Being supportive without taking over. Making her laugh as well as sigh.
Sizzle with a side of sweet.
So, to all my gorgeous friends. Here's wishing you the sizzle and the sweet this Valentine's Day.
Love Jane. May all your reads be five star fantastic.
I love them desperately when they work but loathe them with a passion when they don’t have that and it’s instand “oooh Lets have sex...ok I forgive you!”
If you’d bring out another book already I’d have my 5 star reading ;)
