Whew!

*blows dust off* Is this thing on?

Yes, I know. It's been a month since I blogged. Believe me, that's a good thing. The last time I blogged, I made a whiny rhyme about how the first week of the New Year hadn't gotten off to a great start for me. It's like Fate picked its head up to say, "You think THAT'S hard? Ha!" I'll summarize my past four weeks:

Doctor: You've started early-clogging your arteries, so you need to change your diet, start exercising, and take these pills.

Me: Dammit.

Doctor: And the nodules on your thyroid have doubled in size, could be cancer, see a specialist.

Me: Dammit!

Sister 1: Dad's got a tumor on his bladder, it's probably cancer (he has history of renal cancer), he needs surgery.

Me: DAMMIT!

Sister 2: I have a large tumor on my ovary that might be cancer. Doing tests now.

Me: DAMMIT, DAMMIT, DAMMIT!!!

Needless to say, there was a flurry of new doctors appointments and tests for all of us. Now, I'm beyond relieved to say that:

Dad came through surgery and the doctors think they've got everything, so he won't need chemo.
My sister's cancer test came back negative.
My thyroid nodules are okay.
I'm dealing with my new diet fairly well, although cheese, fried food & butter, I miss you!

So, as the subject line says...whew! January, I will forgive you for the surprise emotional stress test because February has given out so much good news.

And since I've put you, readers, through two straight posts of nothing but personal blathering, I have a gift for you: The prologue and first chapter of WICKED BITE, book two in the Night Rebel series with Ian and Veritas, will be posted early next week, so stayed tuned for that!

In the meantime, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I'll be home, chillin' with my new carrot stick snacks ;).

Julia M First, you too! 2019 has not treated either of us gently.

I'm glad you are doing better, that your dad's surgery was successful and your sister's biopsy turned out negative.

I am really looking forward to the next book so I will make sure to check out the first few chapters. Although, it will only whet our appetites for more significantly. Thanks for sharing your talented storytelling skills with us.

Debra Johnson Get one of those Air Fryer ovens!
They are amazing!
The cook everything super fast (even from frozen) and all those foods you liked fried.....They do it better. Just season, Air Fry ( no grease to clog arteries) and eat!
Had to switch for my husbands heart disease and cholesterol. Someone gifted one to us and I am blown away as to how fantastic it is.
Oh, be careful, the cook EVERYTHING faster!

Angie Jeaniene, in October of 2016, after the perfect storm of out of control autoimmune and a super virus, I was 5 or 6 days into a hospital stay when I went into septic shock and had THREE “sudden cardiac deaths”. At least that’s what my cardiologist likes to call it, but I go the high road by sticking my fingers in my ears and humming really loud!! ;-) Very luckily, I had an aide that kept telling me over and over and OVER that I was ABSOLUTELY NEVER to take my heart monitor off, even if I needed to use the restroom or any other reason I could come up with, since I hated it. She saved my life. I was put on a ventilator for 7 days, to give my heart a chance to heal. I ended up in the hospital for a total of 30 days, got a stent within a month and a half of leaving “the spa”, had to wear an external defibrillator and in February 2017, I got an internal defibrillator. I’m not saying I’m in perfect health, far from it. But I have changed quite a few things, hoping to never end up in that position again. I’m not telling you my story for sympathy, just the opposite. I want to make sure you are around for a long long time!!! I’m not sure of your age, but I turned 44 this past November, so I hope that helps narrow that down. Our health is the most important thing we have, so we have to be our own advocates, even when we are only fighting ourselves. By the way, from what I’ve read and heard, butter is a healthier fat than margarine. If your doctor said no go, then no go, but maybe ask about the trans fats and alll that in the margarine! Most importantly, take care of you, dad, and both sisters!!

What a horrible and frightening thing to happen, but I am so glad you came through it! I hope you continue to get better. Hugs to you.
