What Makes a Good Paragraph?

It is extremely important for writers to understand the parts of a paragraph; however, there is
more to good writing than just knowing these key components.

The next step to improving your writing is to move beyond words and sentences. You must learn to consider how all of the sentences interact with each other and how your reader will relate to your paragraph. Five elements of good writing are:

• purpose
• audience
• clarity
• unity
• coherence
