The Good Counselor Chapter 3: The Scene that was Promised

Pri0r’s weekly review of @therkalexander’s previews of her latest novel, The Good Counselor.

It’s finally here — That highly anticipated explicit scene with pomegranate juice. I worried that it might have been cheesy or cliche, but I should know by now to never doubt our dear author. When has she given reason to believe that what she writes would ever fit into the classification of “cliche”? She hasn’t let us down yet! Six ruby arils to Rachel for this one. The scene was so beautifully written, and is naturally integrated, as always. Eat your heart out, fanfiction!

It comes as no surprise that Aidon and Persephone have a private place on Thesprotia. Man, am I craving the TV show now after getting those visual descriptions. I’d pay good money to see that flowery paradise depicted. Especially the floral constellations? Holy hell. What a concept. If I ever have the ability to create a gardenscape as intricate as this with my mortal abilities, you’ll bet your ass this is gonna be a part of it. The pomegranate tree and oak stump is super familiar…it reminds me of @asphodelon’s anniversary present to Rachel and her husband. I’d love to imagine that was the main source of inspiration for this, since it just goes to show how much care Rachel has for artistic content inspired by her writing.

Also, what the hell, Hermes? Does that little shit never learn? He’s witnessed Hades and Persephone’s separate wraths before in DoL, so he has to be incredibly stupid to go behind their backs and disrespect their direct wishes and straight up LEARN A WHOLE LANGUAGE to gossip about the two of them! But at the same time, Aidon and Persephone had to have seen this coming eventually, right? I mean, the Olympians thrive off of mortal pledges and gossip. I guess we’ll leave the wisdom to Athena then, eh?

Lastly, it looks like we’ll finally get to see the summit of the Queens next update! Boy am I excited. As much as I anticipate it will help each character in some regard, I can’t shake the feeling that it also just spells disaster in other ways. I’m interested in hearing how people think the interaction will go. Do you think Hera will come to respect Persephone, or do you expect that the Iron Queen will take more to Amphitrite, despite their polar opposite natures?

Feel free to reply and let me know!!
