I enjoyed her book, I was planning on doing some decluttering so read her book to give me a push to get to it. I did use some of her advice, but not about books. My bookshelf is getting less and less on its own, because I love my e-readers and have a large supply of books on them. So I buy fewer and fewer paper books. And another plus I fine with my e-readers I can carry my library wherever I go.
I absolutely agree! My books are my treasures and especially those that I truly loved reading. Looking at my bookcases full of books gives me such pleasure and I have plenty of TBR on them! When I walk into my daughter’s home and see her bookcases full it always makes me smile.
Though the Konmari method helped me to get rid of all those cottage cheese containers I kept saving for storing leftovers, I agree with you that books can't always fall into the same category as clothes or plastic storage containers. I have many books I read over and over (some of yours, in fact!) and each time I'm at another stage of life, I glean some new wisdom from them. I still have my Readers Digest Collection for Young Readers from when I was a child and I don't apologize for keeping those old friends on my bookshelf. But if I think about it, all those books give me joy so perhaps the method does work after all.
