The Otherworld

The world seemed but a blur. She felt just like that, like people could not see her, not truly, not with the eye within. It was too much. People were deep into this cold and apathetic state, browsing for happiness where could not exist happiness. She knew she was on the same path, glued to a screen and aloof of any sign of vibrant life. That is why she chose to walk away. It was not easy and certainly not over night. It took her sometime to get the courage to leave - oh she was never of the bravest kind! It was a grey morning, after a sleepless night of anguish, fear and certainty. She got up and the house was quiet, as always, too quiet, as if no one lived there. She dressed slowly, peacefully. Standing in the kitchen, her eyes trying to memorize her favorite place, she reflected on how she would not eat like a normal person again - for a while, at least. No toasted bread or colorful smoohties, no steamed veggies or chocolate cake. She would definitely missed that. She didn’t eat that morning. Walking silently and empty handed, she immersed into the woods, where the sound of life rushed through her ears. Animals, water, cracks and a distant cheerful laugh. The children of the otherworld were happy to see her, to greet her. No one saw her again. She had chosen to walk into the otherworld, where time was slow and tricky, the food came from the dirt and the trees, and your only job was to dance, to laugh and to dream.
