We have one within ten minutes of waking up. Some of us before we’ve even gotten out of bed. It’s the last thing we do before we go to sleep. We use it as a break from work. We use it as a way to step away from a social gathering for a minute or to enter a new social group. It gives us something to do with our hands. It gives us a dopamine rush. If we go to long without it, we panic. We feel off. And, for teenagers, the sentiment is, if you’re not doing it, you’re not cool.
