It’s a delusion, isn’t it?


This dream, the American dream


Seems to shred in every direction


It’s tough, it’s rough


Yet, it’s the sirens that


keep me up,


the homelessness


that reminds me


that I am no more


than a pathetic sewage rat


crawling on all fours


begging for scraps


surrounded by failures


for that elusive


dream.
