The Resolve of Winter
The harshness of winter is carried lightly on a breeze
Bending blackened branches to wave goodbye to its leaves.
Cold are the nights as the sun disappears from the day
And eerie is the silence when the stars come out to play.
Without pity is that winter showering misery and pain in its wake.
Watching on and smiling at the hearts and backs it does break.
But compassion comes with Christmas, but does it last beyond a day,
Or is it just like winter’s sympathy; with no resolve to really stay?
