The Tefillin Miracle

Chanukah is a time for miracles. The holy Rebbe Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev tells us that each year during Chanukah, Hashem illuminates us with the same light of miracles that He illuminated the Maccabees during their supernatural victory over Antiochus and the Greeks. Emuna is what triggers these miracles.

Chanukah is still here with us. If you can imagine the difficulty that the Maccabees and their few followers who remained loyal to Hashem had in preserving and practicing their faith, imagine the difficulties that a Jewish inmate in a rough Texas prison has. Sandwiched between hardened redneck Jew-hating fellow inmates and prison guards who think that tefillin are same outer-space weapon that have been smuggled into his cell, DG does not have it easy.
