Chapter 16 The Mad Scientist Versus the Writer
An excerpt from The White Lion Unicorn Series Book 1: A Colony of Tiny Nekos
Silver Moon was at an open mic. She had just finished reading her latest work and referred people to her website. Then she walked off the stage to sit down at a table by herself. An elderly looking man approached her.
“Hello, Ms. Unicorn. I’m a fan of your work. I enjoyed listening to you read very much.” He smiled at her.
“Thank you.”
He sat down across from her. “It must be hard to be a traveling writer and a single mother.”
“Yes, it is, but I manage.”
“Well, you’re pretty and a good writer. So, how about you and I get married? Then we can raise the nekos together.”
“What?”
“I’m the father of Claira Jaen and White Lion.”
Silver Moon stared at him.
“I had a partner whom I created. She was a cat who could walk upright.”
Silver Moon gasped.
“But she died and I could use another partner to help me raise my children.”
“Go rot in Mordor.”
His eyes got big and round and he gaped at her.
She stood up and stormed out of the cafe. She got back to the hotel and sent a message to Felicia.
Back in the cafe, Myadin approached the geneticist. “We’ve got you surrounded, Wilhelm.”
“What?”
“I’m not the only Guardian in this building.”
Myadin was soon joined by Claire Rose Lutin and several angry tiny nekos.
Myadin continued, “You’re under arrest for kidnapping and abusing your own biological children. You’re also under arrest for keeping people against their will and refusing to educate them. They have free will and you cannot claim them as property.”
“What? That is wrong! I created them. Ergo they are mine!”
“They are not property. They are people who can make their own decisions. You cannot take that from them.”
The Guardians apprehended the mad scientist and took him to a permanent cell.
The Guardians hoped this would be the last time they would have to deal with Wilhelm. But they still weren’t sure what the angry tiny nekos would do.
