I’m Number 48!

The Great American Read is over, and the final standings were revealed on PBS in the season finale.

A GAME OF THRONES (well, A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE, more precisely) finished 48th.   Pretty cool.   I was in the top 50, anyway, and I edged out the FOUNDATION series and WAR AND PEACE.   Not half bad.   But really, just being on the list at all was amazing.  I mean, being included among in America’s top one hundred favorite novels out of… well, out of all the novels ever written, actually… that’s...

Jon Reading Books Sort of odd that they'd title it the "Game of Thrones series", rather than ASOIAF

Leonardo Ok, congrats! But many people (me included) are dealing with an uncomfortable truth: There is a script for the last season of Game of Thrones and nowhere is there a sixth book for A Song of Ice and Fire.

Darra If you still have your copy, and flip to the last page, you'll see he does let us know it's being written and the completion date is TBD. Be patient! The last book is coming. :)

Darra And by "last page, " I meant after his shout-out page and before the preview of the final book. (I am assuming here that every copy has this--my public library copy did/does.)

Please don't harass authors to "finish the book!" every time they write a blog post. Neil Gaiman has denounced this behavior multiple times.

So, please stop.

Caroll Bradley There is a fine line between harassing and encouraging. I really don't like where HBO has taken the story and I'm anxious to see where GRRM will take the story. Maybe because HBO is lacking the detail that the book allows. I don't know. I want the books not the television series.
I'm over 70 and I'm afraid that I'll never get to read the last two books. I also feel sorry that future generations may not be able to experience the joy of the stories. Who will start a series that has no ending.
GRRM, please finish the books before something happens to me or to you.

Leonardo It was in that way: encouraging. Because I think that readers deserves more priority than viewers, finally, the story started as a book.
