Chapter 23 Now What?
An excerpt from The Violet Series Book 1: The Water Nymph’s Tale.
Clyde and Bonnie stood still in their dressy clothes. They looked around. They checked their watches. They glanced at each other and at Violet. They watched the Snowstorm crew.
Violet was dressed up as well. She was smiling. Antoni and the Snowstorm officers wore their dress uniforms.
Violet was the one who saw the Justice of the Peace arrive. She said nothing as she gave her uncle a funny face.
He laughed. Bonnie saw the funny faces Violet made and she laughed too. Soon the other guests were laughing too.
The Justice of the Peace smiled. “I see everyone is ready for me.”
The wedding party waited by the river. Herbert rose up out of the water and some water nymphs followed suit. Violet and Antoni stood near the happy couple as witnesses.
It was all over within a matter of minutes.
As Clyde and Bonnie kissed, the water nymphs went crazy. They splashed the couple and everyone else. There was lots of laughter all around.
Herbert just shook his head and sighed. “It figures you water nymphs would pull something like this at my son’s wedding!”
Violet activated her little computer and played some music the couple had picked out. Everyone began dancing. Even the water dragon danced in the water.
Clyde and Bonnie danced near Violet and Antoni.
“So, Violet, what plans do have now?” asked Clyde.
“I think I want to visit Earth.”
“Okay. I think I can arrange for you to go to Earth.”
Captain Whitfield smiled. “We’ll happily escort Ms. Mineur to Earth.”
“Good.”
“What are you and Bonnie going to do?” asked Violet.
“We’re taking a tour of the solar system for our honeymoon.”
“Sounds like fun. I won’t wait up for you. So, don’t wait up for me.”
Bonnie laughed. “We won’t, dear.”
Antoni raised his eyebrows. “How are Bonnie and Clyde going to tour the solar system if we’re taking Violet to Earth?”
“Oh, the Valiant has signed up. They can take that ship. Good crew.”
Bonnie smiled. “I’m glad to hear that.”
“The captain and I go way back.”
Galley Master Douglas laughed. “They’re old rivals. They’ve started their old argument again.”
Captain Whitfield chuckled. “Well, some things never change.”
Everyone laughed.
