Houdini Halloween Countdown: What Was Houdini's First Famous Magic TricK

Houdini and his wife Bessie went on tour with the Welsh Brothers circus in 1895 with their magic illusion called "Metamorphosis" that made them famous throughout America. In this trick, someone from the audience would tie Houdini's hands behind his back, place him inside a large bag, and knot it closed. Then, Houdini was placed inside a large trunk, which was strapped and locked. The trunk was placed inside a cabinet. Bessie Houdini drew the curtain closed and clapped three times. At the third clap, Houdini himself would draw open the curtain and Bessie would be gone. When the trunk was opened, Bessie was found inside the bag with the knots and seals unbroken, and her hands secured in exactly the same way as her husband's.
