WordPress mistakes to AVOID for new websites

Hope you are having a great Thanksgiving weekend – if you live in Canada – and if you don’t…a little extra turkey and apple pie is all good!
I’m taking advantage of the “can’t get off the couch because I ate too much turkey” and I’m trying to catch up on my reading. I often find gems of information when I’m catching up on my reading that apply to either an outstanding problem or are topical for one reason or another.
Since I put together websites for other folks, I walk them through the whole process. Figuring out what the site is going to look like, to what content is going to be shown on, it to learning how to manage it, to the inevitable changes a couple of months down the line. In all my years of experience I have yet to find someone who truly knows what they want for a brand new website and for whom that opinion won’t change.
This is not meant as a criticism by any stretch of the imagination.
Simply an observation.
This morning when I was catching up on Neil Patel’s latest videos – and if you aren’t familiar with his site – head over to http://neilpatel.com – and one of his latest videos addressed just this issue. He suggests that bloggers focus on creating content first and ‘make it pretty’ second. I’m not sure how reasonable that is in practical terms, but it certain is something to keep in mind when considering starting a website.
I’ll share the video right here so that you can have a listen yourself. Just a couple of minutes in length – easy to listen to.

If you haven’t already done so, head over to the side bar and subscribe to my blog – join the other folks who get these posts into their inboxes each week.
As for book news, I’m putting the finishing touches on my latest book on book reviews and it should be available in a few weeks – just trying to decide on a title and a cover1.
