It's my stuff, leave it alone...

My husband is planning out our retirement. For some reason, he thinks we can live in a travel trailer. Now, I'm up for a good trip. Even an extended trip. But I think I'd miss my stuff. Like my five bookshelves crammed with my TBR pile. And my summer/winter/skinny/heavy second wardrobe. And what about all my nicknacks on my desk? And since we're talking about desks, what about my office? What about my new KitchenAid mixer? And my cookbooks? Sigh. I might have a problem. So have you downsized your life? Lynn

Gloria I am with you, Lynn. My husband would love to live on a boat. What about children and grandchildren? My greenhouse? Nope. Not gonna happen.

Meg We are looking into a travel trailer, a fifth wheel actually. I was amazed as to how roomy they have become. I share the same doubts as you. There are all kinds of storage options with the new ones which i no clue existed. We will park in on our son's property so we are still close to help out but we will have our own space. We will also have the option to travel with it to visit our other children.
Your brand-new mixer should fit in the kitchen (I would love one). It's a matter of getting out and realty looking at what options you need, and how to organize to maximize! Hubby loves the outdoor kitchen, I like the fireplace and large bathroom plus the half bath. Small but cozy. Have laptop will travel.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks Meg. My biggest issue is family treasures (which really only matter to me - lol and books. We will be upgrading next summer so I've got some time to adjust. And we're talking about setting up a 'home base' so we have somewhere to put the stuff until we settle down and stop traveling. And yeah, I have three laptops. (How did that happen? lol)

JoAn I have already started downsizing. Since my father's death last year, my sister and I learned the hard way how too much stuff can be overwhelming. I am still working on it but hope to have it wrangled down within the next year. Only those things that make me happy stay.
