so many things just happened when #ivoted. for starters: surprise i’ve written my second book over the course of the last five (or ten) years, and today received a draft copy. so there’s that. i brought it with me to vote and the attendant immediately snatched it off the table when i put it down. “who is this, you? you wrote a book? what’s it about? is this your memoir?” and as i hemmed and hawed and apologized about the size, the text style, and especially the cover, emphasizing that it was a draft and everything could change (especially the cover), she was busy complimenting my beard, leafing through the pages (i was terrified what she might discover) and regarding the back cover— “it’s a great beard. not patchy or splotchy. i want to run my fingers through it.” omg i’m still blushing. (maybe I’ll keep the cover after all?)
