I love how Charles writes with so much compassion, depth, and tenderness; such creativity and fantasy mixed with realism; creates such believable, full characters who I care about; and shows real and painful issues but with hope. I am rooting for them all so far, but especially teen Sadie, who was also abused and used self-harm to cope. If you haven’t read this yet, pick it up! Seriously. It’s beautiful.
