Do Friendship and Exercise Go Together?
Exercise!
Exercise promotes better sleep, boosts your energy level, improves your mood and of course helps manage your weight.
Exercise, and me well we just don't go together too good.
Hey, don't get me wrong, I know I need to exercise. My body tells me everyday with a creak or crack I had better start doing something and doing it soon! Therefore, I joined an exercise club. I joined six months ago, in May. I have yet to go exercise. I have good intentions, but something better always seems to come along and I say to myself, "oh well, I'll do it tomorrow."
I remember when I use to exercise with my "workout buddy" and it seemed so much easier to exercise with someone. I decided to research exercise and friendship to see what I could find. Amazing what I found.
A car insurance company (Diamond) in the UK did a study of 3,000 women regarding exercise and dieting. "61% found it almost impossible to summon up the energy to exercise alone." I knew I wasn't the only one who hates to exercise alone.
The study also found that on average you would shed more than 10 pounds when you have friends who are willing to eat healthy and exercise with you. An added benefit to exercising together is that 50% of the women said their friendship improved and 7 out of 10 said it made the exercising seem more fun.
So improve your health and improve your friendship, two birds with one stone. It's a win-win.
Grab a friend and start exercising together. Give yourself a small goal at first. Maybe you go walk together for 20 minutes and then reward yourself when you’re done with a cup of coffee. Start small and then set your next goal a little higher. Success is all about moving forward, and any amount of moving is considered success.
What are you waiting for? Call a friend, share some girl talk while walking, and remember you’re improving your health and your friendship.
