The Beyond
*A Netflix Movie Review
Have you seen The Beyond? It's a movie I happened to catch on Netflix one Thursday afternoon. Normally I don't watch mockumentaries or 'Found Footage' films but this one is different.
A space anomaly appears over London air space as one of their astronauts vanishes. The anomaly, first spotted in 1990, has returned with the promise of scientific discovery and exploration... but does it come at at cost?

These dark, undulating aberrations are now all over the world, hovering over major citie and no one can figure out why they're there. Then they discover it's possibly a wormhole (void). Then they say, "Oh hey- why don't we go have a look!"
The Space Agency decides to make first contact by sending people into the void after their probe showed there's possibly another planet. But it's so dangerous, not any person can go. So they create the Human 2.0. Synthetic bodies operating with human brains.
The Beyond is presented as a documentary concerning what’s originally based on an invasion. Yet there's so much more! Incidents take place, alerting us measly humans to realizing there is more out there. There is more to the universe and what possibly created it.
More of a telling of environmental proportions, this science fiction movie is one that leaves you fascinated but rather bored. The beginning grabbed me, then it set me back quite a bit. Using docu-style explanations and first-hand experiences for all the dull bits and pieces, you come to understand the why's and how's. But really, you don't want to; you just want the action. It comes back but it just took way longer than I feel necessary.
The movie also raises some ethical issues that, to me, I bet have been discussed behind closed doors. I wouldn't put it past the government to do something as weird like this. With that being said, The Beyond takes a turn you don't expect. A neat turn but not enough for me to rant and rave about it.
Its an interesting movie with a concept that incites conversation. Sadly, not in my house. Nobody else was interested but me. LOL So now I am off to the next review. Cheers!
