So I'm constructing a device out of rubber hosing, plastic tubing, and microfine stainless steel meshing for siphoning the homemade alcohol I built (pomegranate mead) out of the fermentation vessel and into another vessel so I can get it off the dead yeast because their tiny little festering corpses can impart bitter flavors to my extremely complicated way of getting drunk organically.
What yeast did you use? Did you order it from Wyeast?
I used Red Star Premier Cuvee. It's a wine yeast, which is what I've used for all my meads so far. (I'm up to twelve gallons…over the course of about 4 years). Works great. Very clean tasting. I have some beer currently going and it has an ale yeast from Wyeast. I get all my yeasts locally at Staple & Spice, which has a good home brewing section :)
