How chaos theory informs my writing

“The butterfly effect” is the idea that a butterfly flapping its wings could be the beginnings of a tornado: that life can be irrevocably affected by something completely disconnected from it.

The idea that, no matter how much you try to be in control, chaos can enter you life at any moment has fascinated me for a long time – and it has influenced and informed my writing.
