The story begins as Lauren and Roger Heller head to their car after a wonderful dinner at a restaurant in Georgetown, Washington, D.C. The car was parked several blocks away down a dark alley and when they neared the car, they were assaulted. Lauren sustained a concussion and her husband vanished. At the same time, Nick Heller, Roger’s younger brother, is investigating the loss of cargo for the Traverse Development company at the airport. Ten cargo crates are missing. As he resolves the issue, he gets a text from his nephew, Gabe, who wants his help. Nick rushes to the hospital to find Gabe sitting next to his mother’s hospital bed, unconscious. Wanting to help, Nick begins his own personal investigation, using his company’s assets, into his brother’s disappearance. The facts unfold gradually to a surprising end. It was good.
I’ve been looking for books by the author and have found few in the library. I did read his book, “The Fixer,” and found a more recent book in the library. I happened to find this one in a small lending library at the complex where I live. I enjoyed it.
