Writing Is My Job, Sometimes
I’m in a groove that has me writing daily (again) and I like it. In fact, I love it! But the truth is, I won’t keep this up forever. Thinking back over the last decade, my writing has gone through spurts that generally align with our family schedule. If the kids are in school, I write more. If they’re on break, there’s a very good chance that my writing is also on break.
I also have a highly regarded talent for saying “yes” to invitations to join committees, volunteer and allow myself to be present in places that keep me from writing. So this school year, I’m setting one solid goal for myself. Hoping that one is reasonable to maintain, I’ve upped my weekly writing goals and I’ve given up a standing commitment I’ve had every Wednesday morning for eight years, in order to accomplish this task. I’ve committed to fill that space of time with story development and actual writing–nothing and no one else should replace the intended goal on Wednesday mornings.
For the time being, writing is my job…and I’m stickin’ to it!

Lifelong conflicts intensify when a bond between her mother and daughter ignites a spark that threatens to change everything.
A kaleidoscope of broken pieces anchored in resentment and blame, Don’t Judge A Girl By Her Mother, presents a powerful connection between words, drugs, and their abilities to wound or heal. ...more
